Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." Galatians 6:2 "Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ." Proverbs 18:24 "There are "friends" who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother." 1 Samuel 18:4 "Jonathan took off the robe he was wearing and gave it to David, along with his tunic, and even his sword, his bow, and his belt." Proverbs 16:28 "A perverse person stirs up conflict, and a gossip separates close friends." James 4:11 "Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves." Colossians 3:13 "Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Luke 6:31 "Do to others as you would have them do to you." Proverbs 17:17 "A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity." Philippians 2:3 "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Even when I’m going through hard times or feel lonely, I must always remember that I have Jesus as my savior. This means distancing myself from unreliable friends and walking away from broken friendships. However, that also means I must carefully end friendships that hold me back. If I want to grow personally and spiritually I need to nurture friendships with people that have similar goals.
This verse is a simple reminder that I am a product of the people I surround myself with. One of my favorite bible verses about friendship comes from Proverbs 13:20: "Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm."
